1. Obtain the Keyboard JSON
- Download the appropriate JSON file for your keyboard from the manufacturer’s product page or support site. For the Bulwark TKL its above this guide
- Make sure the file matches your keyboard model and version.
2. Open VIA and Enable Design Tab
- Go to the VIA web app (https://usevia.app) or open the desktop client.
- Click the Settings tab at the top right.
- Toggle “Show Design Tab” to enable the Design tab.
3. Import the JSON File
- Click the new Design tab that appears.
- Find and select the option to Load or drag the JSON file into this section.
- If prompted, enable “Use V2 definitions” (sometimes called “deprecated”) if you receive an error about extra properties or if the file won’t load.
4. Remap and Use
- Once successfully loaded, switch back to the Configure tab.
- Your keyboard layout should now appear, allowing for remapping and other VIA features.
- Test your keys and begin customization as usual.
Troubleshooting
- If the keyboard is not recognized, double-check the mode (wired/2.4G) and make sure the JSON matches the device.
